What Went Wrong?

As I stand among the ruins of the ancient
I wonder, what went wrong?
What went wrong that the glorious banner that once stand proud
Now shattered and left lifelessly
I shout through the empty hall of the kings
And find the echoes shouting back at me
I wonder what went wrong?
What went wrong that the wisdom from the heaven is fading away
Nothing is left, nothing is ever heard anymore

The moon shines brightly in the cold of night
Its light peeking through the windows, making the hollow sight
Of something that once was there but now gone
The trust, the honor, the loyalty, the integrity
The knights that once kneeled before the kings
Are now nothing but a memory of the past
And I wonder, what went wrong?
What went wrong that the songs of the cheerful maidens
Now have turned into grieving and lamentations

I was there on the glorious days
I was there when light shone down the land
I was there when the cattles were herd on the green fields
I was there when the children laughing, playing, dancing
I was there when the women came back washing from the river
I was there when the men built their homes
I was there when the brave of the bravest walked the hall of kings

And I wonder now, what went wrong?
What went wrong, that ages of men falling
When kindness is hard to be found, when love is hard to be given
When a humble heart is nothing but a tale
When coldness is what we see inside the walking ghosts of the present
No life, nothing
Nothing but a fading sound
Of the forgotten glory of the past
And I still wonder, what went wrong?
